Mochi the Pug: A little dog’s big adventure

Can the cutest things come in the tiniest packages? They sure can! From the instant Mochi the Pug popped out of his truck, he was ready to hit the trail for his photo session. Allowing him to lead us down the trails, hanging with Mochi and his Mom was a non-stop good time! It was an evening filled with adorable Pug antics (IYKYK), laughs, treats, play, and praise; Mochi was a total top model the entire time while he soaked up the summer golden hour at Wolfe’s Neck State Park!

Mochi’s Big Adventure at Wolfe's Neck: Capturing a tail-wagging good time during a Dog Photoshoot

As soon as Mochi’s paws hit the trails of Wolfe’s Neck State Park, you could see his excitement. With new sights, sounds, and smells, accompanied by the slight ocean breeze, it was clear this photoshoot was going to be a blast. As we meandered throughout the park, Mochi’s little curly-cue tail never stopped wagging. From hidden trails, mossy groves, to stumps and rocks, we explored so many different parts of the park while capturing his adorable little smile on camera.

On a side note: if you are a dog owner, and haven’t gone to Wolfe’s Neck, you really should! Wolfe’s Neck State Park is really a dog’s paradise to explore. There are endless miles of trails to hike, and a couple beaches for your pup to swim and play in the waves. It is also the perfect location for a portrait session, and as a Maine Dog Photographer, I would say that Wolfe’s Neck State Park is probably the most common location I utilize! Not only does it offer gorgeous backdrops, landscapes, and a variety of scenes, but most importantly, the dogs truly seem to love it there!

No Training? No Problem! The Myth of the Off-Leash Photoshoot.
One of the biggest concerns I hear from pet owners is, “but my dog doesn’t behave well enough for a photoshoot” or “My dog can’t be off-leash, so we won’t get good photos”. And I am here to set that record straight! You see Mochi here? He was on leash the entire time for his photoshoot. And his photos? Perfectly captured so that he looks like he was wild and free the whole time! I mean look at that Pug cuteness! The truth is, your dog doesn’t need to be perfectly trained to have a great time during their session, or to even get amazing photos of them. Even on leash, we can capture all of your dog’s goofy, adventurous personality - guaranteed. That’s the beauty of working with a professional dog photographer—rolling with your dog’s energy, personality, and quirks is my specialty!

On top of knowing how to work with dogs of all backgrounds, my highest priority is also keeping your dog 100% safe during their session. Mochi’s mom had expressed to me that he could not be safely off-leash, so this was never an option, even if park rules had allowed for it. Through some tricks of the trade, and post-processing magic, Mochi’s photos look like he was never on leash for the entirety of his dog photography session.

Cheesin' for the camera, Mochi had to have a special portrait taken with his very favorite 'baby'.
